The weekend house “pé na areia” (foot on the sand) is located in Paulo coastline. The plot with 1700m² has a neighboring house very close on one of the sides, car access at another end and public parking on another side. Given these surroundings, it was essential to work on the privacy issue, protecting the house from outsiders’ looks but without losing the sea view. The project was implanted in a U shape, creating an internal garden, directing the view to the beach allowing transparency, and connecting the internal and external social areas.

For the intimate areas on the second floor and for the entrance hall facing the street, we developed a woodwork panel, besides providing partial views and privacy it also provides ventilation and natural lighting. Another project intention was to work with local elements and techniques to avoid an accentuated construction amongst the landscape, creating a contemporary space with a typical aesthetic of traditional Brazilian homes.
